Well ladies and gentleman, what a day we had in Minnesota on Lake Mille Lacs for Day 3 of the H2H PWS Event 3!
Today started out with some pre-game heat as a few of our anglers exchanged some friendly back and forth on how they thought their day would go – and today was certainly hype-worthy! Our FINTASTIC4 Bracket is set and we are ready for an exciting Day 4!
(1) Joe Okada vs (4) Robert Blosser
(6) Max Wilson vs (2) Josh Blosser
8 AM was lines in and from there on out it seemed to be none-stop action for our GREAT8 Bracket anglers. Within the first 15 minutes, nearly our entire field of eight had fish on the board and the head2head battle began.
Our Day 1 and 2 hammer, Joe Okada, was one of the first to strike and put weight on the board including and absolutely beautiful 4-pound 11 ounce Mille Lacs’ fish. Joe ended the day with eight fish total, including another big fish tipping the scales at 5 pounds 15 ounces. Keeping it cool, Joe did a fair amount of searching today in anticipation for a FINTASTIC4 appearance. Joe bested Marianne with 30 pounds 6 ounces to her 9 pounds even. Be sure to follow Joe tomorrow as he faces off against Robert Blosser.
Speaking of Robert Blosser, he was up against his long-time friend Brett King in today’s matchup. Brett scored Day 2’s biggest walleye and is definitely an angler that can do some damage in any tournament. Brett and Robert exchanged some friendly banter in our tournament director’s, Andy Cleveland’s, live show. Perhaps some Benjamins were exchanged? We will never know.
What we do know is that Robert Blosser had something figured out where he caught 35 lbs and 12 oz of walleyes today comparted to Brett’s 5 pound 1 ounce showing. From what we can tell, Robert was using a dark blue/black plastic to advance to our FINTASTIC4!
Perhaps the most anticipated matchup of the day was set between Justin Schneider and Max Wilson. Both of these PWS anglers always put on a good show, but it was clear that Mille Lacs was setting the stage for a different level of angling with these two. Justin started out hot with his “land of 1000 fish” honey hole. Finding and catching plenty of fish was not Justin’s problem today, it was the size Wilson had found! Justin actually caught one more scorable fish than Max today, but he fell over 19 pounds short of Max’s numbers.
With eyes on Max Wilson, its no secret that he is one of our most passionate anglers in the PWS. Max snuck into Day 3 admittingly by some luck, he stated. Day 3 was off to rocky start early after Max missed his first fish. Luckily for Max, he shook that miss off and put on a show catching the most weight out of any angler today. Max caught 56 pounds and 6 ounces of fish today. Max continues to melt the internet with his combination of artificial bait slip bobbering and electronics combo to advance himself to the FINTASTIC4. Will Max see some company around his spots tomorrow? We will have to tune in and find out.
Last, but not least, we had our closest matchup of the day between or past event champion, Isaac Lakich, and GREAT8 newcomer Josh Blosser. Josh and Isaac exchanged punches all day until Josh caught fire with a three fish flurry. All of this happened within the last hour of competition. Josh didn’t look back and continued to catch fish in which Isaac had no answer for! Josh finished the day with 16 fish and over 48 pounds, 13 ounces. This was 14 ounces better than Isaac.
