The historic waters of Lake Mille Lacs are definitely not disappointing as our FINTASTIC4 anglers set out this morning.
Again, a few scattered clouds in the sky and slight ripple on the water was a great sign for fish to be on the chew – and chew they did! No matter who you wanted to see win this thing, we cannot complain about the quality of matchups and fishing we all witnessed today!
Joe Okada vs Robert Blosser
A lot of eyes have been on Joe Okada this event, and for good reason, he has been catching tons of fish. No matter what time of day or what location on the water Joe is at we see his rod bent. In fact, Joe’s tournament now shows two of the four days with over 70 pounds of fish recorded!
Joe got off to a quick start, but so did Robert Blosser. As our morning got underway we saw Robert jump out to an early lead as he tossed around that mystery jig. In fact, it almost seemed like he tossed his bait right into the waiting mouths of walleyes based on his catch rate. Robert had a great day boating an astonishing 64 pounds and 5 ounces of fish, including a big fish of 4 pounds 13 ounces. Robert’s tremendous weight today surpasses every angler fishing in our GREAT8 bracket…except Joe Okada.
We quickly saw Joe catch fish after fish and eventually racked up 76 pounds and 8 ounces of walleye – a new H2H PWS single day record! Even though Joe won, it was clear to see that the sun and heat was taking a huge toll on him to the point where it may have drastically slowed down his fishing pace. The big question is will one night be enough to recover and charge his internal batteries for the battle on Championship Friday?
Max Wilson Vs Josh Blosser
It is hard not talk about Max Wilson and his fishing abilities. Max has been a wizard with his electronics by pretty much searching for individual fish and catching them with is slip bobber rig – which is really fun to watch. The big question on everyone’s mind was how clean would Max fish today after coming off some rocky parts? The answer – pretty darn clean. Max caught some absolutely gorgeous fish including a 4-pound 10-ounce stud to keep Josh Blosser sweating all day. Max fished hard and ended up with 26 pounds of fish today.
Despite Max’s efforts, Josh Blosser proved to be too much. The two kept it close all day and there was actually a brief moment when we thought we would see Max surpass Josh, but that was only a brief tease as Josh found another gear and continued to pile fish on. Josh Blosser had a rod in hand all day where caught a total of 6 more scorable fish than Max – beating him by 11 pounds! No matter who you were rooting for today we saw some amazing matchups going on, which made for a very entertaining day.
CHAMPIONSHIP FRIDAY
OKADA VS J. BLOSSER
The big question is, how will tomorrow end up? Will Joe come out firing again and put up another 70 + pound day? Or will Josh Blosser pull out his best stuff for last and run away with this thing? There is only one way to find out and that is to tune into the show tomorrow at 7:40 AM CST as Matt and Daryl get us ready for CHAMPIONSHIP FRIDAY!
