What Will We See In Event 2?

May 6, 2025 4:30 pm

Event 2 for the H2H Walleye League is almost here! Event 2 on the Winnebago Chain will take place on May 7th. Here is what we expect to go down.

As we saw last year, the Winnebago Chain can be feast or famine. Odds are, the matches will be much tighter, and the weights will be lighter than what we saw in Event 1. Our anglers will have lots of room to move around, as the entire Winnebago Chain is in play. We could see matches won on Lake Winnebago, the Upper Lakes like Poygan and Butte Des Morts, and the river sections. Anglers will have to decide how to manage their time as they move around on this massive body of water. Also, we will likely see a much more diverse mix of jigging, casting, and trolling. All of our matches have an interesting dynamic to them, but there are two that stand out among the rest.

#1 Ackley/Clause vs Okada. Neither of these teams expected to start their season with a loss, and both will be looking for redemption in the second event. In this H2H format, one of these teams will get a win and get to 1-1 on the season, the other will start their season 0-2, needing a jump to make the playoffs. Both of these teams have experience with Winnebago, but Okada listed this event as the one he was most afraid of this season. We will see if he can conquer his fears solo or starts the season with two losses.

#2 Miller/Solberg vs. McQuoid/Labs. The #1 and #2 seeded teams after Event 1 get to battle it out in Event 2! Both of these teams had dominating performances in Event 1 and proved that they will be contenders when the playoffs come around, and this matchup certainly looks like one we will see when we head to Bay De Noc. Neither of these teams are known as being “bago guys” which makes the playing field even more level as we enter the event. Either way, after Event 2, one of these teams will likely remain the top seed while the other will fall to 1-1.
