The top seed from 2024 is returning with a new look! Mitch Van Ert is back for 2025 and has teamed up with his father, Dave Van Ert! The Van Erts call Watertown and Okauchee Lake home but are well-traveled anglers. This duo is known for their abilities with a spinning rod and finesse tactics but are not shy to power fish if they have to. Their season goals include taking it one match at a time, improving every match, being consistent, and riding momentum and a positive mindset all the way through the Championship. Mitch’s success speaks for itself with High School State Championship wins in 2013/2014, collegiate experience at UW-Whitewater, and an H2H win in the 2020 Capitol Clash. Mitch was one half of the Hanson and Van Ert team that finished with a near-perfect record of 8-1 in 2024 but were eliminated in the Great8. This season, we suspect that the Van Erts will be tough to beat in their quest for redemption.
