Meet the Angler: Josh Wiesner

June 30, 2021 2:57 pm

Josh Wiesner grew up in Fond Du Lac, WI and has been fishing tournaments for over 16 years.

Josh has become an accomplished tournament fisherman in the walleye and bass world with 28 top 10 tournament finishes in his fishing career along with 6 tournament wins. Josh is also a two-time AIM Championship winner on Lake Winnebago, a five-time Bass Nation (WI) state qualifier and championship winner, and has also fished the USA Olympic team event held in South Africa in 2019.

Josh’s home body of water, Lake Winnebago, happens to be the least favorite body of water for most of the PWS anglers, however it has brought him lots of success throughout his fishing career. Even though he doesn’t have a “least favorite” body of water, his all-time favorite is Green Bay, only a short drive north of Lake Winnebago. Wiesner prefers jigging and casting techniques and that has him pouring jigs in his free time.

When Josh isn’t on the water, he is often spending time with his wife and two daughters or deer hunting.  Josh owns and operates The Boat Doc located in Lomira, WI, which is one of the top marine dealerships in the country.

Josh speaks about how this series is fantastic due to the catch-weigh-release format used in PWS. With the PWS format, Josh says he will have to strategize through each event to compete for the win. When asked about whether he will want to know what his competitor has for weight, he said that’s a tough decision, but he would want to know.
