With Day 4 in the books, it’s clear that Mother Nature can change everything overnight.
All of our anglers knew they were in for a grind today due to muddy and cold-water conditions.
The start of the FINTASTIC4 featured matchups between the Westphal & Casey team and the Nuechterlein & Miller team. Both these teams fished hard to make it to today. Finishing on top, Nuechterlein & Miller executed their game plan better than anyone in the field. Moving baits like Rippin Raps and blade baits were what the Nuechterlein & Miller team used to catch three fish today. Both Nuechterlein & Miller said they marked certain fish and focused all their efforts on getting them to bite, a strategy that worked well today as they ended regulation with 8 lbs and 1 oz. Westphal & Casey, two excellent anglers, struggled and could not hook up.
The second match of the day was between Mans & Hobbs and Saxon & McCoy. This match ended in a stalemate as neither team could get any walleyes to commit. Mans & Hobbs, thanks to a stronger start of the tournament, won the tiebreaker and can live to see another day in the championship round.
The rest of our H2H field moved into the Pool Play – Battle for 3rd. Today, Pool Play, consisted of 4 teams. Every team in Pool Play faced the same muddy water challenges and could not catch a walleye except for Powers and Crossman. Powers and Crossman found themselves in the right place, at the right time, with the right cast, and the right bait. The fish Powers and Crossman boated was a beautiful 4lb – 5 oz walleye that counted for double weight thanks to the TRS Secret Lure – TRS Custom Rippin Rap Road Rash #6
Even with the slow day of fishing today, this tournament is still anyone’s game for the championship and the Battle for 3rd – Pool Play. Remember, Pool weights are carried over from Wednesday’s results and the Championship match starts both teams at zero. Championship Friday coverage is brought to you by The Reel Shot and starts with Matt and Daryl in the studio LIVE at 8:45 AM CST 3/25/2022.
