Well folks we made it… Five days of non-stop, heart-pounding, walleye-catching action LIVE from the Detroit River!
And what show it was. First of all a huge shout out to all 32 of the PWS anglers that competed and put on a great show for everyone at home! The Detroit River did not disappoint in fish numbers and quality where we saw a great mix of healthy females and males all the way up to the 6-pound mark in weight.
Our championship bracket funneled us down to two great anglers, Isaac Lakich and Nick Schertz. If we remember back to day one, Isaac started right out of the gates blazing hot and looked to have a strong shot at running away with this entire event. However, Nick Schertz showed us all that persistence and confidence in your spot can really pay off. From the second day on out, Schertz was absolutely dominating putting fish after fish in the boat. Schertz found a honey hole and never left it. Nick casted a jig and plastic to catch plenty of fish to name him our Detroit River Champion. Congratulation on your stellar performance all week Nick Schertz!
Even though Nick and Isaac battled it out today for a first-place finish, there was always something to keep grinding for with H2H. Placing as high as you can for event money was an obvious motivator, but each of our 8 anglers also needed to stay focused on Angler of The Year position for that award and prize money Battle on Bago is sponsoring.
Just to prove the point of how unique H2H angling really is, Max Wilson put on a great show catching over 40 pounds of walleyes, Max also had the largest weight of day five. To see how each of our Great 8 anglers finished out their days head on over to our results page here.
