Must-Watch Matches in Event 1

April 15, 2025 11:12 am

All of the matches in Event 1 will have their moments of excitement, but there are two that stand out from the rest as must-watch matches.

#1 Nickel/Gohlke vs. Miller/Solberg. There are a couple of things that stand out about this match. First off, both Cody Solberg and Alec Nickel are guides on the Bay of Green Bay. They have spent a ton of time on the Bay this spring and have been putting clients on giant fish since the ice melted. Secondly, the date of this event matches up closely to Event 2 of last year when Miller/Solberg put up a total weight of over 100lbs and almost quadrupled the weight of their opponent. There is no doubt that both of these teams will be on fish to start Event 1. It will come down to which one of these teams can make the right adjustments and handle the pressure as the match wears on.

#2 McQuoid/Labs vs. Okada. A couple of the hottest anglers in Walleye fishing facing off in Event 1…what more could you ask for? The duo of McQuoid and Labs combines old-school knowledge of Green Bay with new-school technology and techniques. This is going to make them a tough opponent all year. The catch is that they are true H2H rookies and haven’t felt the intensity of H2H competition until now. Okada, on the other hand, has the knowledge of Green Bay and the H2H experience. The X factor in this match will be two things: will fishing solo hurt Okada as this match could take some serious weight and numbers of fish to win, and will McQuoid and Labs be able to handle the pressure and make good decisions in their first H2H event ever?

Only time will tell, and these are just two of five very competitive matches in Event 1 on April 16th. To follow all the action live from the water, head over to www.phyx.tv or our YouTube channel, H2H Fishing.
