2022 H2H Walleye Opener II – Day 1

March 21, 2022 2:27 pm

Day 1 is in the books of the much anticipated 2022 H2H Walleye Opener II in DePere, WI on the Fox River.

Thanks to some colder temperatures and fronts heading toward Wisconsin, our anglers were met with chilly air temperatures and 38-degree water to start today. Getting to work, a lot of our anglers were able to find fish within the first hour. Our first fish on the board came from Team Mundt where they boated a 2lbs and 7 oz walleye. Last year’s winner, Team Nuechterlein, answered back and got on the board with a fish that weighed over 5lbs!

As the day went on, we saw consistency from a lot of our anglers. Day 1 ended up with every team catching at least one fish and 13 of the 14 teams catching a scorable, 2 + pound walleye. The water running through the Fox River stayed murky and cold all day. Nearly every angler we could watch LIVE was throwing a reaction bait like a blade bait or lipless crankbait. Bright colors were a unanimous choice today as we saw lots of bright chartreuses, greens, purples, pinks, and oranges.

Be sure to follow along all week as we work towards crowing an H2H Champion. Catch all the action LIVE on www.h2hfishing.com starting at 9 AM CST 3/21 – 3/25! Need more H2H? Be sure to find us over on Facebook for more content and updates!
